About Lia Barrett
Lia Barrett photographs in a style of documentary portraiture, capturing the spirit and honesty of people living life. When she is not photographing people, she puts on fins and a tank and submerges her camera into the underwater world, where she meets sea creatures both large and small.
Lia graduated from Parsons School of Design and Eugene Lang College in New York in 2007. She earned a degree in photography and a degree in sociology and history. Since graduating, Lia has been traveling the world on a continual quest for adventure while striving to improve her skills. Her work has appeared in international scuba diving and travel magazines, newspapers, and blogs including Ocean Geographic, Asian Diver, Dive, Scuba Diving, Sport Diver, Mail on Sunday, Time, BBC Wildlife, Time Out Shanghai, Korea Herald, and Wild Junket.
Lia has also been working with submarine builder Karl Stanley over the past few years documenting the deep off of Roatan, Honduras. They have spent over 100 hours together in Karl's homemade submarine, and plan to continue their project in the future.
